The recent commentary made about Catherine Zeta-Jones’ appearance at the Red Sea International Film Festival comes years after the star spoke about plastic surgery.
Hollywood icon Catherine Zeta-Jones exuded glamor and beauty at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on December 5. However, our AmoMama readers believe that Zeta-Jones, who was one of the entertainers to participate in an In-Conversation event during the festival, has gotten some work done on her face.
For the glitzy affair, the “No Reservations” star shone in a striking, strapless cobalt blue gown that featured a slit on one side and a long extravagant cape that trailed behind her on the red carpet.
She accessorized the already eye-catching ensemble with sparkly dangling earrings and diamond jewelry, including a beautiful bracelet and rings.
Completing her look, Zeta-Jones wore open-toed heels that had strings coiling around her legs and left her dark-colored tresses falling down her back and shoulders in loose curls.
Zeta-Jones adorned her face with black eyeliner that emphasized her twinkling eyes and colored her lips with lipstick. Joining her at the event was her legendary actor husband Michael Douglas, who looked dapper in a classy black suit and tie.
The event she and Douglas attended is the fourth edition of the festival which runs from December 5 to 14. According to the description on the festival’s website, “The Red Sea International Film Festival is the region’s premier cinematic event and the first and only international film festival in Saudi Arabia.”
It goes on to explain, “Over 10 full days, the historic old town of Jeddah, ‘Al Balad,’ will transform into a cultural and artistic hub, hosting film stars from both behind and in front of the camera, from all around the world. It’s an extraordinary cinematic celebration for film lovers and creators alike.”
Whether it’s exploring “the wonders of animation and compelling documentaries” or “captivating and thrilling stories,” the event showcases a selection of carefully curated Saudi, Arab, and international films that cover “all categories of cinematic storytelling.”
Adding to the exclusivity of the event is the fact that a few movies that will be premiered in the Middle East, globally, or in the Arab world, will be shown “exclusively on the Festival’s platform,” giving people a “chance to see films you won’t find anywhere else.”
Additionally, the event, which takes place in Al Balad’s Culture Square, “welcomes film enthusiasts and filmmakers from Saudi Arabia and beyond, with a wide range of events, programs, activities, and accompanying parties.”
Cinema 1 of the Culture Square was also the venue where the festival’s exclusive In-Conversation series took place.
Here is where influential figures in the filmmaking space share their insights and offer “a unique glimpse into the minds of the artists and creators shaping the cinematic landscape.” Such dialogues are designed to enrich festival-goers’ experiences and bring them “closer to the world of cinema.”
Among the public figures who participated in the In-Conversation series was Zeta-Jones, who is recognized for her incredible accomplishments in the industry such as winning an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award for “Chicago.”
She was also honored with a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) title in 2010 “for her contributions to film and charity.”
Michael Douglas, who has over five decades’ worth of experience in the entertainment industry, also participated in the series, but his conversation took place in the Culture Square’s Auditorium.
Although the couple attended the festival for the aforementioned reasons, social media users were less fussed with the event they participated in and more focused on Zeta-Jones’ appearance.
Upon seeing images of her and a post we shared on Facebook about her attendance where we referred to her as a “NATURAL AGELESS beauty,” AmoMama readers flooded our post’s comment section with reactions.
“She’s had surgery done and doesn’t even look like she did when younger,” opined a reader, while another asserted, “natural beauty [sic]🤣🤣🤣 Come on, what does she have natural on her face and in certain places of her body?”
A fellow Facebooker penned, “Had a face lift [sic].” “Natural 😂😂😂. Botox 🤔 maybe🤦🏻♀️,” added someone else. Another reader wrote, “Cheeky Botox..” while a spectator remarked, “Don’t think it’s natural! Looks as though cheeks have fillers and her mouth.”
Even more enhancement comments ensued with yet another AmoMama reader stating, “I see a lot of plastic surgery.” “Who from Hollywood hasn’t had a face lift [sic]? Some, but not many, haven’t,” mentioned someone else.
“She had face surgery. She changed completely,” highlighted an observer. Another chimed in with, “Beautiful but not natural.” Expressing a similar sentiment, a reader echoed, “She’s z as beautiful woman but looking at her then and now she’s definitely aged [sic].”
Contrary to popular belief, the “Entrapment” talent has not had any work done. In an interview that she sat down for in 2016, Zeta-Jones addressed aging, beauty standards in the industry, and swirling rumors that she had gone under the knife.
“You don’t have to be a beauty queen to be an actress. The roles that are coming my way are different and more interesting. But I’m not anti-plastic surgery at all,” shared Catherine Zeta-Jones.
She then went on to reveal, “I have not been under the knife…yet, is what I say! If I feel like it, I’m going to go ahead and do it! If (surgery) makes you feel better, who am I to tell someone that it’s wrong?”
