Steve Harvey and his wife, Marjorie Harvey, have celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary.
The happy couple, who raised seven children together, took to Instagram to post a video of them on their special day, looking stunning dressed in white.
It was revealed how, once during their relationship, Steve nearly lost Marjorie, but his bodyguard stepped in and saved their relationship.
American actor, producer, comedian, and TV host Steve Harvey has celebrated 16 years of marriage with the love of his life, Marjorie Harvey. The couple has raised seven kids: Brandi, Karli, Broderick, Wynton, Morgan, Jason, and Lori. To commemorate the joyous occasion, the happy couple took to Instagram this past Sunday to give fans behind-the-scenes footage of their beautiful wedding anniversary photoshoot.
The couple jetted to Lake Como in Italy to celebrate their milestone. A video showed clips of the stunning couple wearing fabulous attire styled by Elly Karamoh in different parts of the luxury home where the photoshoot took place.
Marjorie wore a chic white silk YSL dress with a beautiful feathered gown with a trail. Her dashing husband wore white flowy pants and a white dress shirt with a dazzling gold-like Dolce & Gabbana blazer to top off the look. As they sauntered downstairs, they posed while lovingly gazing at each other and sharing tender kisses.
Coco Jones’ “ICU” played in the background of the video which fans and celebrity friends alike were gushing over. They showered the couple with lovely compliments. Marjorie’s simple yet love-filled caption read:
“Anniversary time with the Love of My Life.”
In a separate post, Steve also shared the special clip to his Instagram feed and continued to celebrate his beloved wife on his Instagram Story too. The “Family Feud” host’s post was captioned:
“Still going strong @marjorie_harvey.”
The year was 1987, and Steve had been performing a stand-up comedy show at a comedy club in Memphis when he first saw his future wife, Marjorie. As she walked into the show late and found her seat somewhere in the front, Steve seized an opening during his spiel to speak directly to her and said:
“I don’t know who you are, but I’m going to marry you one day.”
He recalls this being the beginning of their love story, although they had lost touch for some time following this encounter. However, through the help of mutual friends and fate, Marjorie and Steve reconnected in 2005 and have been inseparable ever since. Following a year of courtship, Steve popped the big question, and the couple tied the knot on June 25, 2007.
Steve is quite the charming and doting husband and has always ensured to treat Marjorie like the Queen she is. Just before celebrating their now 16th year of marriage, the 15th year was commemorated in a thoughtful and heartwarming manner where Steve had decided to write a love letter to his wife, detailing and reflecting on their time as a married couple.
In the letter, Steve marveled at how far he and Marjorie had come since initially meeting all those years ago. The lengthy letter encapsulated every high and low moment the couple had been through, including the rough patch Steve went through when he was financially strapped, and Marjorie remained his steadfast partner, holding him and their fort down.
The Harveys remain happily in love and blessed with the beautiful life they have been gifted.
According to Steve, Marjorie was the first person ever to gift him the invaluable sensation of peace in what was such a crazy and busy lifestyle. As he detailed the ins and outs of their extensive relationship, Steve remains forever blessed and grateful for Marjorie:
“I want to thank you because, without you, there is no way my life could be this. I owe you a debt of gratitude because you simply changed my life… You are the single biggest reason outside of God’s grace that I am where I am today; you’re the one, [and] I feel like if I lost everything, you’d stay with me, and we’d build it up again.”
Before embarking on his love story with Marjorie, Steve was married twice. After ending his marriage to Marcia Harvey in his late 20s to chase his dream of becoming a comedian, he became homeless for three years. That period of his life was naturally challenging and devastating for the star, who had to work his way up the Hollywood comedy career ladder with nothing and no one by his side.
In 1993, Steve’s luck improved when he landed an elite gig performing at the Apollo Theatre on Showtime. However, his personal life was still rocky after getting married for the second time to Mary Shackelford and realizing he had made a mistake in doing so
Steve admitted that he had wed again for the wrong reasons. Instead of blaming his then-wife, he chalked up his wrong decision to not wanting to end up alone. After finalizing his second divorce, Steve met Marjorie and credits his bodyguard for spearheading their union:
“He told me, ‘Look, the only time I’ve ever seen you happy was when you were with that woman Marjorie. Now before you go and do something stupid and marry another woman, I’m calling her.’ ”
While Steve wanted to give Marjorie the world and thus waited to reconnect with her again, she wished that she had known of this reason when they first started dating because she would have invited him to move into her home at the time. Nonetheless, both were elated to have been reconnected, and Steve described their reunion as a second chance:
“It was like being reborn. I messed up so many times in my life, [and] she made all the difference. When you’re happy at home, you can make a lot of things happen.”
The Harveys remain happily in love and blessed with the beautiful life they have been gifted. Steve and Marjorie are forever grateful for having decided to give their relationship another chance after losing contact when they met initially, resulting in a nearly two-decade-long marriage.
