Pierce Brosnan became a grandfather two decades ago, but he is still excited about the role. He now lives somewhere in Hawaii with his wife, who many criticize because of her weight on social media.
Pierce Brosnan has played many roles as an actor; however, one of the roles he enjoys the most is the one that affords him time with his family.
The “James Bond” star has been one of the most sought-after males in Hollywood and was even crowned “The Sexiest Man Alive” a couple of times, but he has only ever had eyes for one woman — to the dismay of some fans.
Her name is Keely Shaye Smith, and he has been with her since they met in 1994 at a party in Cabo San Lucas, a year before he debuted as James Bond, the role he is now famously known for. From the moment he saw Smith, Brosnan could not stop thinking about her. He said:
“Wherever I went in the world, I missed her, and I’d send her tickets to come so we could be together. We just seemed to fit.”
Brosnan took her on the famous walk down the altar in 2001, and the ceremony took place in the ancient Ballintubber Abbey in County Mayo, Ireland, in the presence of their friends and family.
They remained together through thick and thin and now have kids who have kids of their own who they adore. Brosnan is now a well-known grandfather and is always excited about hanging out with his grandkids.
He and his wife have two kids named Dylan and Paris. Besides them, the actor has three kids from his first marriage to Cassandra Harris, who passed away after a tough battle with ovarian cancer in 1991. He also adopted Harris’ kids, Charlotte and Christopher, with her previous husband.
Pierce has called the place a magical one that he and his wife had always seen as a getaway.
All was well until 2013 when a tragedy rocked their lives again. Ovarian cancer took the life of Charlotte this time. It happened only a couple of years after her mom and maternal grandmother passed away from it. The tragedy hit Brosnan hard, but his family survived it.
Despite what happened, Brosnan and Smith still have an incredible amount of love for each other. They enjoy holding hands and still sneak kisses every chance they get.
Many have said it is sometimes easy to mistake them for newlyweds, and this fact remains true. On their 25th anniversary as husband and wife, Brosnan took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute that left everyone in their feelings.
He credited Smith as the person who made him the family-loving and all-around successful man he is, but he may have always been on the path.
As a child, Brosnan struggled with his father’s absence and did not have a solid family to back him up. Now that he has a family, he recognizes its value and has never taken it for granted.
Brosnan now lives well away from the public eye, where he can freely enjoy his time with his family and be with his wife, who has been getting viciously attacked on the internet for her weight. Brosnan does not stand for the insults and has been known to defend her from time to time.
When one fan compared an old picture of him and his wife with a current version of them, pointing out how different their bodies were, Brosnan clapped back on the since-deleted post, saying that he loved his wife as she was.
Brosnan’s feelings remain the same regardless of what the trolls say on social media. As far as he is concerned, “she is the most beautiful woman.”
Proud Grandpa at 69
Brosnan became a grandfather through his two older kids, the late Charlotte and Sean Brosnan. Sean is Brosnan’s son with his first wife, Cassandra. He first became a granddad about 20 years ago and has since gotten a reputation for being a devoted grandfather.
He makes no secret of how much he admires his role as grandpa and has confessed that his grandkids, Isabella, Lucas, and Marley, “melt” his heart.
He appeared in an episode of “Live With Kelly and Ryan” in April 2017, where he spoke at length about his experience as a grandfather. He said:
“It’s just such a joy to be a grandparent … there is just something intoxicating about it and beautiful. There is something very special about it.”
Pierce enjoys having the young ones around, but all that time with them made him realize how precious life is. This has left him with a zest for life that matches a younger man’s.

Settling Down in Hawaii
For several years now, Pierce has been living in Hawaii in a secret home where he follows his passion for art and enjoys time with his family. Earlier this year, he shared glimpses from his studio in the house, sending his fans into a frenzy.
The pictures showed some of his completed works, and fans praised them in the comment section. One even went as far as saying the paintings reminded them of Picasso, a legendary painter.
The house sits on five acres of land and is located in a gorgeous oceanfront estate in Kauai, Hawaii. It was purchased in 2002, and the family has been going back and forth between there and their longtime mansion in Malibu, California.
Brosnan has described the place as “magical” one that he and his wife had always seen as a getaway for themselves and their kids. The family spent most of their time there when the world was enduring the COVID-19 pandemic. While there, they spend their time swimming in the ocean, snorkeling, exploring the forest, or just sunbathing on the sand.
In recent times, there have been speculations that the star plans to make their home in Hawaii their permanent address after listing their home in Malibu. He later took it down but has been clear about their home in Hawaii being the only place he sees them settling in the near future.
