Fans commented on how good Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell look on their anniversary.
Paul wants to bring “strength” and “romance” to the relationship.
“Wife looks amazing,” a social media user wrote last year.
On Monday of Paul McCartney’s 12th wedding anniversary with New York businesswoman Nancy Shevell, the rock star posted a romantic caption that would not have looked out of place had it been written by a newlywed.
He was previously married to Linda McCartney for 29 years until she died from cancer in 1998. His second union to former model Heather Mills made ugly headlines when they split after seven years.
“Happy anniversary to my lovely wife, Nancy. Let’s have a great one,” the singer posted with a photo of his wife on a boat docked in a harbor.
“You guys genuinely look so cute,” a fan gushed. “Congrats to the happy couple. Lookin’ good guys,” an Instagram user said. “Happy anniversary. Good to see you two happy,” another agreed.
The couple married at the Old Marylebone Town Hall on October 9, 2011. They had been dating since 2007. The bride wore a long-sleeved ivory dress with delicate pearl buttons designed by Paul’s daughter, Stella McCartney.
Her long brown hair fell on her shoulders in soft curls and was adorned by a white flower. The “Ever Present Past” singer was also dressed by his talented daughter. A spring of prink was in the pocket of his navy suit, and he wore a crisp white shirt and light blue tie.
Seven-year-old Beatrice McCartney, Paul’s youngest daughter, was the flower girl. The day marked what would have been Paul’s late Beatle band mate John Lennon’s 71st birthday.
Ringo Starr, his wife Barbara Bach, and Olivia Harrison, the widow of George Harrison, were also in attendance. Other guests included Nancy’s son Arlen Shevell, her cousin Barbara Walters, and Mike McCartney, the singer’s brother.
In January this year, in response to a fan question from social media, Paul gave insight into what kind of husband he is. He strives to always be “considerate and romantic” to his wife and completely overdoes Valentine’s Day and Christmas.
There is never just one Valentine’s card; he hides a few around the home and admits, “Sometimes things even spill into the next day – it’s completely silly.”
He is “very proud to be “The Guy” in Nancy’s life, the one she relies on, and “to be her strength when she goes through tough times.” His role as a husband is “to be the strength and the romance at the same time.”
The couple has been subject to several beach paparazzi shoots over the years. A UK tabloid ran photos of Nancy Shevell in a blue bikini showing off her washboard stomach at the end of 2016.
Last year, a Facebook user wrote Paul McCartney’s “wife has a great body for her age” when the Daily Mail did a story of their beach vacation last year. “Wife looks amazing,” one commented, with a second wondering, “How does she keep such a great figure in her 60s?”
