Heidi Klum has been a supermodel for most of her life. The 49-year-old mother of four still works as a model and now her 18-year-old daughter is joining in her campaigns.
Unfortunately, some people are less than happy about the campaign featuring the young girl. Keep reading to learn what exactly transpired that made people so uncomfortable.
Heidi Klum is no stranger to modeling especially in lingerie. So when the Italian lingerie brand Intimissimi announced a new campaign featuring the supermodel people were intrigued and excited.
People were excited about what the brand would come up with but when the teaser for what was to come dropped, a lot of the enthusiasm vanished or turned into confusion and disgust.
The lingerie brand posted the first teaser; a video featuring the supermodel and her newly 18-year-old daughter in lingerie sitting back to back to one another. The caption for the video read, “A story of self-confidence, joy of life and love between a mother and a daughter.”
“Together @heidiklum and @leniklum celebrate The Art of Italian Lingerie,” the brand proudly wrote.
The video showed the mother and daughter duo having a great time with one another; playfully laughing and posing. The two od them seem to be having the time of their lives together.
The brand then shared pictures of the two women in their lingerie sets. They captioned the pictures as, “Like mother and daughter. Every woman has a special place in her heart for her favourite lingerie.”
“The idea behind the campaign is to show them how they truly are,” the caption read. “The two represent the strong bond between mother and daughter.”
While lingerie brands usually feature several models wearing the products together, the fact that this particular shoot had a mother-and-daughter duo did not sit well with people. They commented in hordes how weird they found this. “This is just in BAD TASTE!!” one person wrote. “Really CREEPY!”
“I like to think I’m progressive in these things but mom and daughter in lingerie in the same video shoot is just a bit ick,” another user wrote.
Another was concerned about the 18-year-old daughter being featured in the campaign. “Sexualizing your child the moment they turn legal is weird,” wrote the Instagram user.
“I also think this is so disgusting and appalling,” another person added to the discourse. “A mother using her daughter for her self promotion. It’s just awful and tasteless.”
While there was a lot of negative feedback there were some people who also appreciated the campaign.
“I see nothing wrong with this, nothing disturbing,” a user wrote.
Another person stated, “Beautiful & very classy…more skin is shown in bathing suits…her daughter is 18…legal…they’re both GORGEOUS.”
Earlier last month, 18-year-old Leni Klum posted another risqué picture of herself in little else than her jeans. She was showing off her makeup and covered her torso with her hands. While a bra strap could be seen on her arm, she left little to the imagination. Clearly, the young woman is not shy about her body.
Both mother and daughter have yet to address the negative feedback they have received from people.
