Jada Pinkett Smith revealed she had alopecia in 2018.
Jada recently debuted new pink hair to celebrate her 52nd birthday.
However, fans now claim the actress never had alopecia but only shaved her head.
Jada Pinkett Smith has been open about suffering from the autoimmune disease alopecia. The actress, who is married to Will Smith, confirmed in 2021 that she had alopecia, which has caused her to lose much of her hair.
The “Girls Trip” star has been rocking a bald head ever since she revealed she has alopecia. Her fans are also used to seeing her without hair on her head. Over the years, the mom of two hasn’t shied away from speaking about the disease.
Jada first spoke about this on “Red Table Talk” in 2018. The actress said she had been having issues with hair loss. She added that it was terrifying when it first started. “I was in the shower one day, and then just handfuls of hair in my hands,” she narrated.
The actress was worried that she was going bald. She admitted that the idea of losing her hair and going bald made her shake with fear. When Jada learned she had alopecia and would keep losing her hair, she made the decision to shave her head bald.
In December 2021, Jada also shared a video showing a mark on her head and confirmed that she had alopecia. She said the mark appeared after she went bald and just wanted to let people know so that they wouldn’t think she had undergone brain surgery. “Me and this alopecia are going to be friends…period!” she wrote.
Other fans called Jada a “liar” and said she only claimed to have alopecia after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.
The 52-year-old also shared a picture of herself on August 7, 2023, noting that her hair seemed to be growing back. She said her hair was acting like it was trying to make a comeback, but some spots on her head were still bald. Jada shared a picture showing short hair on her head dyed in black and white. Today, her hair seems to have grown some more.
Jada recently debuted a new pink hair to celebrate her birthday. The “Set It Off” actress updated her fans about her journey with alopecia, and they quickly reacted, noting that her hair appeared to have grown thicker.
Jada called the rare hair on her head “a birthday sherbet surprise within a Virgo sunrise.” The actress celebrated her birthday on September 18, 2023. The hair on her head came as a surprise to her fans, who are used to her bald head.
Fans claimed Jada never had alopecia when they saw her latest pics with hair on her head. “She doesn’t have alopecia! Just more drama to get attention,” a fan wrote. Fans accused Jada of “shaving her own head” and then pretending that she had alopecia.
However, other fans said Jada was “absolutely beautiful with or without hair.” “Bald, short hair, shoulder-length, or down her back she’s beautiful,” a fan agreed. Still, some fans said Jada should share how she managed to grow her hair even when she had been diagnosed with alopecia.
Other fans called Jada a “liar” and said she only claimed to have alopecia after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Oscars. The actor slapped Chris because he made fun of Jada’s baldness.
Chris compared Jada’s shaved head with that of Demi Moore in the 1997 film “GI Jane.” People laughed at Chris’ jokes, but Jada seemed unamused. An angry Will went on stage and slapped Chris, asking the comedian to keep his wife’s name out of his mouth.
Fans now claim Jada said she has alopecia so as to cover up her husband’s assault on Chris. Jada had previously said losing her hair caused her to freak out. Even so, the actress embraced her bald head and seemed to be moving towards having gorgeous short hair.
